Georgian Initiative Brings "Ten Days Without War" to Ukrainian Children from Irpin

In a heartwarming act of solidarity and compassion, a group of 28 Ukrainian children from the war-stricken city of Irpin experienced a respite from the ongoing conflict in their homeland, thanks to an initiative led by Mikheil Saakashvili. The project, dubbed "Ten Days Without War," took place in Georgia over the New Year, offering these children a temporary escape from the realities of war.

This remarkable endeavor was the result of a collaborative effort involving various non-governmental organizations, including Western Vector and Ukraina.ge, the TV company Formula, and the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in Georgia. The initiative saw significant cooperation from Sopho Chkhonia, whose contributions were instrumental in the project's success, earning her widespread gratitude.

The Rustavi International Scout Center played a pivotal role by hosting the Ukrainian children. This gesture not only provided them with a safe haven but also an opportunity to experience the warmth and hospitality of the Georgian people.

Funding for the "Ten Days Without War" project came from an array of generous donors, demonstrating a broad base of support. Notable contributors included the University of the Caucasus, the University of Georgia, American Georgians for Progress, various companies, and numerous individual citizens from both Georgia and Ukraine. This collective effort underscores the deep connections between the two nations and highlights the powerful impact of community and international cooperation in times of need.
